Witness Credited For Helping Capture Tobacco Shop Robbers In MD, Police Say

Members of the community helped apprehend a pair of wanted Baltimore men who broke into a Montgomery County shop this week, authorities announced on Friday.

Nathan Stewart and Donald Pevia III, both 20, have been apprehended after forcing their way into a Island Smoke Tobacco Shop location and stealing property from the store. 

The robbery was reported at approximately 3:50 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 21 in the 7900 block of Norfolk Avenue.

According to police, after robbing the store, the pair fled on foot, but an alert resident who witnessed the incident were able to provide an accurate description of both Stewart and Pevia, who were later picked up by detectives in the area.

Police say that the pair were found with stolen items and were taken into custody without incident. Both were charged with second-degree burglary.

Stewart is being held without bond. Pevia was released on a $3,000 bond. No information about their next court dates was released.
